Community Water Purification Plants (CWPP): SHG to Enterprise

Access to safe and clean drinking water is essential for the health and well-being of every community. However, many rural areas continue to face challenges related to water scarcity, water quality, leading to health risks and increased burden on households. To address this critical issue, the Community Water Purification Plant (CWPP) initiative has been introduced as a Livelihood opportunity for rural women along with sustainable and community-managed solution. CWPP contributes to improved public health, reduced waterborne diseases, and enhanced quality of life, especially in underserved regions. In addition, ACE has promoted these plants as a livelihood opportunity for rural women

ACE with the technical and financial support of Water.org has establishes 26 Community Water Purification Plants in different districts of Maharashtra and 3 are being installed in Madhya Pradesh, as part of our broader efforts to address the water crisis and provide access to safe, clean water for communities, especially in areas where access is limited or where waterborne illnesses or water quality issues are prevalent. The CWPP initiative has enhanced livelihood opportunities of rural women.
